Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Well I think this hyperextension of the neck may be a side effect of the medication he is taking. Sometimes neuroleptic treatment give side effect and you should consult this symptoms with his psychiatric doctor to be see what should be done. Don't hesitate and take an appointment with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
