Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 62 year old female. I am a long term whole food vegan, I do not eat processed foods, no sugar, no added fats, low salt. I have been taking chlorathaladone and a thyroid pill. My blood pressure stays around 130-160 over 80. I know this is high and tried the main three types of bp meds with extreme side effects with each. My doctor says to take The least bothersome, a beta blocker, and tough it out but I feel nearly suicidal from the depression and have stopped. The beta just slightly lowers my bp anyway and its taken weeks to recover mentally from the effects of the drug. Mentally i am feeling better with just the diuretic, but my bp is still high and I dont know what to do. I am 5ft 4in. 140 lbs. Any suggestions?
