Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I recently started having high Blood Pressure. My top number is usually normal to prehypertension but my bottom number stays consistently high, stage 1 to stage 2 hypertension. I am only 32 and never had high blood pressure before. My pulse is also constantly high, ranging from 110 to 125 resting. My doctor put me on a diaretic (low dose) a week ago which has lowered my top number more than my bottom. My pulse pressure is now staying between 15 and 30. The good news is I m staying more in the prehypertension range most of the time now, but my pulse is still high and my bottom number still isn t going down as much as I d lile. The only other medication I am on is 75 levothyroxine (have been for years) for my thyroid. I am 5 3 female and weigh 155 - not perfect, but far from terrible. Over the past week I am experiencing moments when I nearly black out or faint. Usually after squatting down then standing back up. I almost blacked out at the store tonight after bending down to get something. I held on to the shelf while everything began to go black and I felt like I was milliseconds away from falling over. This is occurring several times a day and getting worse. Should I be worried about my pulse pressure being low? Pulse rate being high? Diastolic being high while systolic being normal? What could be causing my near fainting spells?
Hello ma'am.the symptoms of fainting is alarming. the periodical episodes of fainting might be due to reasons such as 1. thyroid level derangement 2. inadequate pressure control ( also related to thyroid level) or 3. anaemia (low iron in blood). get Thyroid profile, CBC, and 24 hr ambulatory BP to rule out these and proceed with your physician. get well soon.
