Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
High blood pressure is a diagnosis made by your physician or cardiologist after running various tests:
• Monitoring blood pressure (BP) for a couple of weeks, record the results to analyze them further
• ECG
• Echocardiogram
•
Thyroid function test
•
Lipid profile panel
So, in other words, we should determine if this patient really has
hypertension. If yes, we should determine the cause: primary or secondary. And, we want to analyze how her cardiovascular system is running.
Now, as the patient is a foreigner and you have low income, then, I can only recommend to:
• Cut on salt
• Avoid caffeinated drinks (coffee, binged, energetic)
• Avoid foods high in calories and fat
• Take a clove of slightly chopped garlic with a bit of milk, especially, in the morning
• Encourage to take more basil, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, etc., as tea or with food (as spice) or can take as a supplement
However, she must see a physician to evaluate her current health situation first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Khushboo Priya
