Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe hyperthyroidism - Graves Disease. I was prescribed two different medications: methimazole and ptu. I had an allergic reaction to both. Is there anything else I can do to regulate the thyroid without burning it with radioactive iodine or having it surgically removed?
* The cause of hyperthyroidism must be sorted out in the case where there are multiple drug allergies, as the immune response mediated via antibodies is the key factor for this.
* Kindly provide me thorough details of hormone analysis, ultrasound reports and else available with you to co-relate clinically and guide in accordance to that only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
