Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The doctor gave my husband X-Linked Hypophosphatemia. We planned for him to start it the next day. Was not able to start it because he be came very ill and is still in a home getting well. The question, I had forgotten about this med.......it has beem about a month. Do we start them?
You have not mentioned which drug your husband was started on. If any medication were prescribed for hypophosphatemia and he has not taken it for 1 month may be the reason he has got more ill. What are the other medical conditions he have?
Hypophosphatemia is treated by calcitriol and phosphate salts with constant lab monitoring after every 3 months. Dont start the medicine by yourself. The condition of your husband needs to be reevaluated based on his serum calcium and phosphate levels and kidney function tests. Meet your doctor in this regard.
Hope I answered your query. Wish him good health.
