How Can I Reduce The Saliva Production That Causes Choking During Sleep?
I seem to produce excessive saliva in the the back of my throat that I have to cough up an swallow now and again. This is concerning me when I sleep sometimes on my back because it causes me to choke and wake up sometimes gasping for breath. How can I reduce the saliva please
Hello First of all I want to explain you that this is not saliva , which is choking the throat . As I have noted in my patient that due to allergic bronchitis or due to sinusitis patient develop POST NASAL DISCHARGE i.e. mucus . This clog into throat and the production of this mucus ( you may call saliva ) is due to allergy . The allergen may be dust, mite, hay, smokes , fine dusting powder, sudden fall & rise of temperature , pollen , mold . In my opinion take great care and avoidance is an important thing in this type of cases. Consult an E N T specialist and get his opinion. In such type of cases usually I prescribe monteleukast+ bambuterole in combo pack . One or two in day . As this is a prescription medicine , so consult a doctor . Good luck
