How Can Infected Skin Burn Be Treated?

Six weeks ago I burned the inside of my wrist and arm taking off the lid of a pot of soup. I immediately ran cold water on it, covered it with neosporene and a bandage. I changed the bandage and put more ointment on it every few days and it seemed to be getting better. Today it started itching like crazy and I just took off the bandage and it looks worse than ever. The area is red with small white and red bumps and it smells bad. Is it time to go see my doctor? Or what can I do? Thanks for your help. Carole

Hello Dear User, and thanks for Using HCM system

Beforehand, it was time to see your doctor since your burned out your wrist, a burn can be really serious. Now, according to your information, you have a skin infection.

You should be treated with antibiotics, such as:
1. Cefadroxile 500 mgs, or others depending on your location and common bacterias there.
2. Daily cure with antiseptic solutions in the area, such as, hydrogen peroxide, silver sulfadiazine as ointment is also a good option.

I strongly recommend you to see a specialist, who can treat your infection, and assure you tracing.

A hug and my best wishes for you
