General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Infected whiteheads are treated with antibiotics to reduce inflammation & infection.

Medicated creams, ointments & gels (Benzoyl Peroxide, salicylic acid) also work well.

Keep your skin clean, avoid excessive sun exposure, remove makeup before going to bed, refrain from squeezing or scratching the whiteheads.

Neglected whiteheads can become acne. Acne can cause emotional distress. Get examined by a dermatologist & get treated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
