How Can Inflammation Of The Sinuses After Using Steroid Inhaler Be Treated?
I use a steroid inhaler and rescue inhaler for an asthma-like condition. The steroid inhaler has a side effect - can cause inflammation of the sinuses. I do get clogged up a lot, attributing it to the steroid inhaler. Would bromelain be good for that, and would there be any contraindication for this?lis

General & Family Physician, Dr. Maninder's Response
Hi,
Bromelain is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help by curing sinus congestion and discomfort. However, response varies from person to person. I suggest you to start taking it but at the same time, keep your steroids handy to be used if the situation gets hard to handle. Don’t rely on bromelain alone. There are no contraindications as such for its use and it is safe until taken in an appropriate quantity. Start with lower quantity to check for any allergic symptoms at the very first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Maninder, General & Family Physician
