How Can Insomnia In A Toddler Be Treated?

My daughter who will be 3 years old on April would not get good sleep she keeps waking up every 2 o 3 hours. And for naps she wouldn’t sleep more then 30 minutes. I been told for a lot of friends to give her melatonin but I’m scared to give her that because is something I never tried before. My question is is ?it safe to give her melatonin and if it is witch one I should give her?
