Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was taking HRT orally for years and did not have a period. I stopped for awhile and when i started HRT again, it was a climara patch and progesterone. I started having a period again before i would even finish the 12 day medroxyprogesterone. I reduced the patch dosage from .050 to .0375 but still got a period. Last month, i cut the progesterone pill in half and that reduced the bleeding and limited it to a couple of days. I never thought i d be saying this (because when menopause happens, it feels like a loss), but what can i do so that i don t continue to have a period with HRT?
If bleeding continuous with pain abdomen then you have to consult your gynecologist, she will examine per–vaginally, ultrasound abdomen then treat you accordingly.

How Can Inter Menstrual Bleeding Be Treated?
Hi, Menopausal hormone therapy can result in light bleeding or bleeding that s as heavy as a normal period. It may be due to endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial cancer. Progesterone may help to reduce the bleed. If bleeding continuous with pain abdomen then you have to consult your gynecologist, she will examine per–vaginally, ultrasound abdomen then treat you accordingly. Hope I have answered your query.
