How Can Intermittent Pain In The Left Hip Be Treated In The Elderly?
Thank you ! I have been going to a chiropractor for left hip pain. He,after seeing x-rays said it is a muscle problem in the hip area. It becomes troublesome and painful but not constant. Though Inam 87, I exercise and work hard at home as I am alone. Your opinion would be so appreciated. Jim Brophy
Isolated hip pain at your age may be due to stress fracture. it is not picked up on X-ray and Mri of left hip will be needed to confirm diagnosis. Mri is quite more sensitive and specific for diagnosis of stress fracture than X-ray treatment of stress fracture would be rest and calcium plus vitamin D supplements. Tab ultracet twice a day can be taken for pain relief. Visit to orthopedic surgeon for detailed clinical Examination will be helpful.
