How Can Itching And Swelling On The Legs Be Treated?
I have been on Lisinopril, Norvasc, Lovastatin, and Procardia to lower my hypertension? My B/P is still high and I am on Procardia now. My father is 80 and had two back to back heart attacks. Lisinopril makes me have a continuous cough; Procardia just lets my BP stay high plus now I am itching all over and my feet and legs are swollen, I stay tired all the time and fall asleep when I sit down to rest for a few minutes. What do I need to do?
Lisinopril drug is an ACE inhibitor. That family of medications can cause a persistent cough. You would need to let your doctor know so that it can be switched to a medication from the ARB family of medicines.
You may also need to add a diuretic, this would be a medication to get rid of excess fluids and salts. This is one of the more common reasons for uncontrolled hypertension.
One of the medications is causing an allergic response, this is the reason for the itching, and this also needs to be investigated. You would need to stop one at a time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Michelle Gibson James
