Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I received a prescription for cipro to for a uti that didn t clear up today and tonight I m having itching in the genital area. Is this normal? 250mg twice daily for 3 days. I have been on 100mg for over a week and it didn,t clear it up and he the gave me just 6 pills of the 250mg to take for 3 days.
If all you are experiencing is an itch and not other symptoms like increased urge to pass urine, burning sensation while urinating, increased frequency of urination, etc; then you should be treated for the itch (more likely to be of fungal origin), and not for a UTI. Please discuss your symptoms in detail with your doctor, and also request for a urine analysis to help reach a more accurate diagnosis.
Best wishes.
