How Can Itching In The Groin Area Be Treated?

Hi, I’ve had what I think is jock itch for two years now. I’ve been using castor oil which helps with the itching, but the whole area is red and sore. If I don’t use anything the skin cracks and it’s incredibly painful. Can you recommend anything?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

That jock itch is due to fungal infection and won't be relieved unless you take anti-fungal treatment. I would advise you to get yourself checked by a dermatologist. He will prescribe you an anti-fungal cream like Miconazole and may also put you on an oral anti-fungal regime. Meanwhile you should make to keep the region dry as sweating increases the infection. wear loose cotton undergarments. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
