How Can Itchy Insect Bite On The Neck Be Treated?

I was attacked by a small flying bug about the size of a small fly. It bit me on the neck about 8 times while I was sitting in my recliner swatting at it. It must have got inside when I blew off the patio. My neck has red itchy hurting spots. It burns and itchy both. Looks sort of like a fire ant bite only larger. It was not a misquito. I later found it hidden in my curtain. I smashed it. What was it and do I need to be concerned?
