How Can Itchy, Painful And Sore Under-eye Bumps Be Treated?
I have what feels like a bug bite because it itches and hurts a little bit, under my eye. I feel it start to itch and I thought I felt a bump but it stings a little when I sweat. But the next day it looks like I have a big red bag under my eye. Just my right side. This has happened 3 times now in a few weeks time. It goes away after a couple days but it looks terrible and really itches . can u help?
It looks like it is some kind of a bug bite. You can take non-sedating antihistamines, twice daily for three days to help reduce the pain, itchiness & inflammation.
Do not touch, do not scratch. Make sure the strings are not there in the skin. You can apply cold compress & calamine lotion or hydrocortisone ointment in the affected area for relief.
It should reduce, if not you are suggested to get clinically assessed by a dermatologist, you may need antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
