How Can Itchy Rashes Across The Scalp And Skin Be Treated That Worsens Into Blisters While Taking Triamcinolone Acetonide?
Hi Doc, Since the first of the year I ve been plagued with Itching scalp and all over the body itch. My dermatologist has me on Allegra 180mg 3 times a day and Triamcinolone Acetonide 2 times a day which I quit last Thursday due to turning a rash into blisters.. Nothing he has tried works, right now he prescribed Prednisone 20mg which worked back in January but no longer seems to help. Any help for me?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is important to understand the cause for your itching. There could be quite many reasons for the same. The medications you were on were for symptomatic relief. I suggest you get yourself reviewed by another dermatologist. In the meantime, change your body wash or soap to a mild hypoallergenic moisturising one. For the itchy scalp, I suggest start using an anti-dandruff shampoo and leave it on wet scalp for at least 7 to 8 minutes before washing it off. Repeat this process once every 2 days. There is another anti allergic medication called bepotastine which is better responsive than Allegra. You can check with your doctor for the appropriate dosage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Smruti Pevekar
