Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I developed hives in Oct - went to allergist - followed course of antihistamine in am and pm. Extreme itch - then red dots - then black and blue - still experiencing symptoms - advised caused by stress. Now in the past week I have a swelling at left side of waist under ribs. I have no medical insurance at this time. Is this something to be concerned by and maybe be unrelated? I could have strained myself as I did lift something that was heavier than I thought. I am 68 and take care of myself. I am diabetic but keep it in control.
As first-line management, you can apply low potency steroid creams like betamethasone for symptomatic relief. If the lesion persists, it is better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated. You can also take antihistamines like Cetirizine for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
