How Can Itchy Red Blotches All Over The Body Be Treated?
My 85 year old mother in law has recurring hive-like itches with red blotches that end up looking like bruises all over her skin. very painful. She is not taking any niacin, and has gone off her meds and potential food allergens with no relief. No doctor knows what it is.
Hi. As per your case history of red rashes, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume. 2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like mometasone cream on the lesions twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
