How Can Kidney Infection And Sepsis Be Treated?

What type of antibiotic would be best to treat a kidney stone infection that has led to sepsis. My mom was first given Rocephin and now Cefazolin. She doesn t have a fever, eats well and is up and active while she is at the hospital but blood test results still show bacteria.

Hi,

I have gone through the medical history of your mother and understood your concerns.

Sepsis following kidney stone infection is a severe situation which requires hospitalization.
Treatment consists of antibiotics based on susceptibility testing (blood culture and urine culture tests).

Rocephin and Cefazolin can both treat the causative bacteria.
I am happy these drugs have succeeded in improving your mother's condition (she has no fever, eats well and is up and active), however, I still insist she should continue taking antibiotics as prescribed by her doctor until her blood is totally cleared.

She should drink plenty of fluids especially plain water.

Wish fast recovery.
