How Can Knee Swelling, Pain, Burning Sensations With Toes Numbness Be Treated?

Yesterday I went up to the bus stop to pick up my daughter and I twisted my left knee on the ice. This is my bad knee already with the cartlidge under the knee cap deterorating. Now it is very swollen and hurting pretty bad to the point I hardly slept last night. I have a burning sensation in my knee that is driving me crazy and a pain down the outside of leg with my toes going numb. It feels a little better when my knee is slightly bent but I don't know what to do. I am keeping it elevated, iced and ibuprophen. Any suggestions?
