How Can Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction Be Improved?

Dear Doctor, My Brother is a heart patient. Last year he went through CRT-D (Pacemaker) implantation due to low heart rate. He was under medication before surgery. After surgery, he was feeling better than before and started working etc. But from past 4 months, he has developed similar symptoms as before surgery and his LVEF has fallen below 20% and further below 10% when he got admitted to a hospital 3 weeks back. He also had developed swollen legs due to fluid collection when he got admitted. Doctors said that his case is a Non CRT-D Responder case. Even though the pacemaker device is working fine, his heart is not responding well to the device and is becoming weak. He has been administered new medication now and currently at home. He is feeling better than before but still feel tiredness. Below is the current medication he is going through. His Thyroid and Sugar levels are normal now. I would like to know if there are any methods available now to improve his LVEF? What are the possible steps we need to take? Are there any Physical Therapy OR Yoga Therapy methods that can help improve his LVEF? Tab. Dytor plus - 10mg (1-0-0) Tab Zytanix - 2.5mg (1-0-0) Tab Dytor - 5 mg (0-1-0) Tab. Hi,

Consult a cardiologist and get evaluated.
You might require drugs like digoxin.
Detailed evaluation including a repeat echo test are required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
