How Can Leg Pain With Numbness Be Treated?

I have recently been diagnosed with Schmorl's Node at inferior endplate L3. I am experiencing a lot of pain & occasional loss of use of my legs along with numbness. My regular doctor (a PA) refuses to treat the condition or address the pain. Is this condition really nothing to worry about. How do I address the pain? Could I eventually lose the use of my legs permanently?
