How Can Liver Cirrhosis Be Treated?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with a cirrhotic liver. I have sarcoidosis and have gone through treatment for Hep C with success for a two month trial of harvoni. My question is what can be done to improve my liver status? Also, I drank rarely when I was in my early to late 20’s.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Cirrhosis is a condition of the liver where the liver shrinks, nodule formation started and liver function is deranged mainly detoxification and synthesis of many important proteins like coagulation factors, albumin etcetera. Besides symptomatic treatment nothing much can be done, a liver transplant is an option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
