How Can Liver Damage Be Prevented?

Hi, i have a girlfriend who had an overdose of plus/minus 30 paracentamol. She got addmitted 4hours after, after 46hours she was diagnosed with paradose and given medication,immediately she started vomitting but shes better now, so its almost 5 days since she was admitted, with her case is the possibility of liver damage?and in the mean time what can she take to assist in preventing liver damage?

I can understand your concern.
Overdose of paracetamol can cause drug induced hepatitis.
But this condition is completely reversible if treatment is started early.
Since she got treatment immediately within 4 hours, possibility of permanent liver damage is very less.
You can give her N acetyl cystine (NAC) to prevent liver damage. NAC is antioxidant and have proven role in paracetamol poisoning.
Usual time for complete recovery is 2-3 weeks.
