Hello,

Neuropathic pain followed by shingles is best treated with nerve medication like Gabapentin (starting dose of 300 mg/day titrated up as needed up to 1800 mg daily). How long the pain will last can vary greatly from person to person, and there is no fixed time frame. However, most people notice the pain going away in about three months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
