Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My close friend was diagnosed with lupus a couple of year ago. Last year she had dengue fever which made her lupus worse. She was sick for 3 months and then got better with treatment. She has started feeling sick again since last week and feels very tired. She has two small children and is very concerned about her health and also seems a little depressed now. How can I help her?
Greetings Welcome to healthcaremagic. Systemic Lupus erythematosus or Lupus is a disease that effects the whole body from kidneys, joints to heart and blood problems. Lupus can be kept undercontrol but not cured completely so regular checkup from the doctor is very important to keep problems away. Tiredness or fatigue is one of common problems in lupus so if the disease is controlled so will the fatigue also get better. i would suggest to visit your physician who will get few tests like ESR, Urine R/E, serum creatinine and also few tests that are specific for lupus like C3, C4 levels and Anti-dsDNA. These tests will tel us the status of her general health , disease severity and her kidney status. DMARD are then advised which are needed to control lupus.
I hope the answer was helpful. In case you need any help please contact us in writing.
Regards Dr Talal
