How Can Lymphatic Malformation Under The Chin Be Treated?
Hi dr, My daughter is having lymphatic malformation under the chin, oral cavity under the tongue.. MRI revealed that its multi loculated cystic lesions with deep extensions. I know its only two options for treatment.. Scelerotherapy or surgery or both.. she is 8 month old.. swelling visible from 3rd month.. not visible in birth.. consulted Doctor is also in dilemma which one first.. surgery or Scelerotherapy.. he asked us to decide.. we are confused.. any help ??
I think you must cooperate with doctor on decision making, what will be feasible for both the doctor as well as you. I think you need to opt for sclerotherapy first.
You may feel confused with the two procedures, but if it happens because of medical intervention there is no need for any surgical invasion. But there are other concerns too like the success rate.
You need to keep the prognosis in mind. If your doc says Sclerotherapy will be with better prognosis, go for it. Otherwise the surgery is the last option there.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Muzaffar Hussain Parray
