Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I suffered of lymph edema on my entire left leg. It is not the first time. I had it years ago on both legs after I was diagnosed with PE. I was very sick, but after being treated with Xarelto, compression stockings and lymph edema therapy it finally went away. I have it again. They did a ct scan and ultrasounds of both of my legs, since at first I had both legs swollen. I had been with the pain and discomfort for months this time. Since my skin becomes hot and very red they suggested it could be cellulitis and prescribed me with antibiotics. No change. I am worse. I did travel for a week to England and Ireland for a day this year in February. I had travel before to other places since my husband served The Army for 22 years. I do not know what else to do. And still nobody can tell me the diagnosis of the lymph edema to begin with. Can you please, help!
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lymphedema is a very problematic disease left untreated. it is caused by a blocked drainage of lymph through lymph vesels, and causes are many. It may be infected by viruses and bacterias, this causes swelling, rendnes and pain. You should by force meet your doctor to make another examination, lymphoscintigraphy is a posibility, it reveals any blockage at your lymph system or any missing vesel. However is the specialist who decide after visiting which is the best diagnosing examination and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
