Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello doctor, I am a female and I have male pattern baldness that is thinning of crown...I am using 2% minoxidil and follihair capsules....still there is so much of hair fall with white knobs at their ends....why ? And one more question is will the hair fall resume after stopping minoxidil and follihair capsules ? Please let me know...thank you in advance
What medications you are using would help to prevent hair loss and also to regenerate hair. However, it's effect would be only appreciated after using the medications for about 4 to 6 months.
Stopping these medications would resume hair fall again. If the medications you are using is not that effective and your baldness is resembling male pattern, then you would need further evaluation and medications to treat the condition.
You may need to be evaluated for testosterone levels in the blood. If it is higher than normal, then you may need certain medications to prevent its effects on hair fall.
Kindly consult Dermatologist for further clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
