How Can Metabolism Be Improved?

Need to reboot my metabolism, Sstop falling asleep on a moments notice and lose at least 20lb. Nothing tried to date helps, that includes talking with all my doctors! Also just watched young female that had to learn to walk...I had dbl Harrington, body ast for 13 mos, DID learn to walk again, but unable to successfully exercise...Any suggestions, please???? PS - you are very new to me!
