How Can Methadone Be Present In UA Even If The Patient Doesnt Consume It?
Yes my question is about methadone. My husband went in to see his doctor but she was not available so he saw another. During this visit he was told to give a UA he had no problem do so, but a few days later the office called to inform him that there was methadone in his UA. I found this so far fetched that it angers us both, my husband doesn t even know what methadone is so alone use it. In addition to all this it must be know that he doesn t like to take medication even if it is subscribed to him. Could there some logical explanation? Please help because my husband feels so bad that I need to remind family that he not doesn t even drink alcohol or smoke! Respectfully, Ms. Gonzalez
There is no logical reason why methadone should be present in the urine of a person who does not take any opioids. The only possibility I can think of is that there probably was some mishandling of samples and the report was not his. I understand that he must be feeling bad about this. I think that the best way to handle this would be to talk to his doctor and ask for another test, so that this issue can be cleared up.
Best wishes.
