How Can Mitral Valve Prolapse Be Treated?
Hello. A doctor told me I have mitral valve prolapse and mitral valve regurgitation grade 2. They told me to come next year for another echocardiogram. Is this serious? I should change my habits? I also have anxiety alot. They prescribed me propranolol for 1 month

Mitral valve prolapse is not usually associated with symptoms in most people.
Grade 2 mitral regurgitation is considered moderate regurgitation. This is monitored in most persons.
Medications such as the propanolol is prescribed, this helps to slow the heart rate and decrease its work.
Some persons may need additional medication.
As stated, most persons with mitral valve prolapse do not have any problems so monitoring in a year is fine unless you develop symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations.
