How Can Mobility In The Shoulders And Arms Be Regained?

what type of doctor is best to go to for my shoulder problems? i had an mir done 2 years ago and they saw nothing and sent me to physical therapy because i lost my range of motion and it got better but currently with my new job of installing duct work my shoulders and arms have gotten worst. if i have my hands above my head or lay on my arm in bed wrong my arm will go numb and with my new job I ve started to not be able to hold tools above my head for too long and shooting pains in my forearm. most of my pain is in the right arm/shoulder but my left arm has some of the same symptoms.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of shooting pain in right arm and shoulder, MRI normal, asked to physiotherapy, now left arm also has similar symptoms.
The commonest reason I can think about is cervical spondilitis causing nerve compression or so and thus now affecting both sides of shoulder and arms.
Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation.
Consult your Doctor and ask for MRI of the Cervical spine.
If the findings are positive for cervical spine, discs or so, get a reference for a Neurosurgeon.
Neurosurgeon will review the symptoms, take a proper examination and correlate with MRI to give you proper guidance as per the findings.
It can be Physiotherapy, postural changes, neck collar or may be surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
