Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. Yes, I have a son who is almost 15 years old. He had molluscum contagiousness for about a year and a half. He was treated in dermatology last April for it. He has had one enlarged cervical lymphnode for about 10 months now. I thought it was due to his skin issue. Today, he has multiple enlarged lymph nodes in the ground area. I am worried.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about your son and understood your concerns. Molluscum contagiosum is cent percent treatable and curable and usually does not cause any lymph node enlargement. Hence the causes of the lymph node enlargement have to see examined for, investigated and treated accordingly. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Get your son to a Doctor or an ENT or General SUrgeon for clinical evaluation, proper examination to see for the source of infection and get the following investigations to get a cause: Tests of blood and urine. Ultrasonography of lymph nodes and guided FNAC and if required excision biopsy so that a proper diagnosis as for the cause can be found. If there is an infective pathology a course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medications should help. If a specific disease is found, get treated accordingly.
