How Can Multiple Sclerosis Be Diagnosed?

My brother is 2 years older than me and has been diagnosed with M S. I am experiencing similar symptoms (I fall frequently, I get dizzy a lot, I have chronic fatigue, headaches behind my left eye, weakness on my left side, confusion, etc etc ). Is MS common in siblings and should I be checked for it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The sumps you have described do fit into the multiple sclerosis pictures, but there are many conditions that can mimic multiple sclerosis and need to be ruled out.

There are no specific tests to diagnose multiple sclerosis and can only be diagnosed after a proper history and complete neurological examination. I would advise you to get yourself assessed by a physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.Amman
