How Can Multiple Sclerosis Be Treated?

I have multiple sclerosis and experience a lot of pain. My neurologist started me on 10mg oxycodone which caused opiod induced constipation. I had been put on a 7,5mg dose of meloxicam by a pain doctor (take 1 twice a day). The meloxicam provided some relief but i would need a stronger dose to counteract my pain. What is the maximum dose of meloxicam that physicians can prescribe? Thank you!

Hi,

Meloxocan optimum dose is 15 mg so you are already taking the optimum dose. This should be kept in mind that Meloxocan is an NSAID, and we generally avoid prolong use of NSAID. So it may not be wise to use Meloxocan for long times. It may cause stomach ulcer and rarely kidney problems.

The pain can be managed with other drugs like Gabapentin or Amiytyptyline. Opioids may also be advised and laxative (drugs that move the bowels) be used with it if it causes constipation. So you can see your pain doctor and discuss things with them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
