Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have back spasms two or three times a year. They come on quickly (as in overnight) and with no apparent cause such as unusual physical activity. I am not overweight but could lose 10 pounds none-the-less. I am 6 feet-o inches tall and weigh 185. I do a fair amount of physical work as in cutting and splitting firewood, light construction projects such as decks and I ride off-road motorcycles as recreation. I remain active and enjoy travel with my wife. Two years ago I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, so I believe Flexeril is off limits as a treatment for my muscle spasms. What alternatives are available/suggested?

How Can Muscle Spasms On The Back Be Treated?
Hello, It is musculoskeletal pain. As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI scan. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
