How Can Mycobacterium Avium Intracellulare Be Treated?

I have MYCOBACTERIUM AVIUM INTRACELLULARE- and have been taking the follwoing for more than 6 months

AZITHROMYCIN / ZITHROMAX     500 MG ONE A DAY

IC ETHAMBUTOL HCL     400 MG TWICE A DAY

My doctor's say my CAT and chest exrays are positive, but I am still have continual pain. What could this be? my doctor's say scar tissue, but, it sems to be getting worse

I understand your concern and situation.

The treatment of atypical mycobacterial infection must be done as per antibiotics susceptibility tests and stay in regular follow up. You might need prolonged treatment. The pain can be due to scarring and follow up X Ray will guide treatment. Treatment must be taken regularly.
