Thank you. This question seems stupid, but I just don t know what to do about this problem. I am an 84 year old lady in good health. For the past several months my nose is plugged up and crusted inside each nostril with really hard stuff. I blow and try picking it all out with tissue paper, but my nose is so tender and sore inside I can hardly stand it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Charlotte
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concerns. Some remedies for nasal congestion can be : -Use a humidifier or vaporizer. -Take long showers or breathe in steam from a pot of warm (but not too hot) water. -Drink lots of fluids. -Use a nasal saline spray. -Sit a warm, wet towel on your face. You can use nasal decongestants. These medicines help reduce the swelling in your nasal passages and ease the stuffiness and sinus pressure. They come as nasal sprays, like naphazoline (Privine), oxymetazoline (Afrin, Dristan, Duramist), or phenylephrine (Neo-Synephrine, Sinex, Rhinall). Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!
