How Can Nasal Polyps Be Treated?

i have nasal polyps in each nostril. i was given blister packs of prenisone for several years now, and it use to decrease the inflammation. i had taken a blister pack again last month and it is no longer working. my polyps swell 24hrs a day. my ent specialist stated last year i did not need surjury, they were too small. this year i woke up to go to work and one was sitting outside my nostril the size of the tip of your pinky full of blood. anyway the prenisone doesnt seem to work what can i do???????

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If medications are no longer helping, then surgery is the next option for treatment of nasal polyps. Please follow up with your ENT specialist to discuss this.

You can also try taking antihistamine like cetirizine 10 mg at bed time along with prednisone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
