How Can Nausea Be Treated?

Yes, I would like to know what prescription medications are available for nausea that do not have the side effect of constipation. My doctor prescribed Zocor, but on the drug information page I noticed that a side effect is constipation. Over the counter medications do not seem to help with my nausea. I have the nausea on an empty stomach as well as after I eat.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
For your symptoms of nausea, it would be better you take 'domperidone' medication along with 'pantoprazole'.
Domperidone is an anti-emetic which can stop you feeling sick. Its active ingredient is domperidone maleate. Allergic symptomss such as swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips or throat; problems with breathing; skin rash, itching or hives are the possible side effects of this drug. It is not known to cause constipation as side effect.
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that decreases the amount of acid produced in the stomach. More frequently reported side effects with its use include diarrhea and nausea.
You need to take this combination of medication on empty stomach in the morning to overcome the symptoms what you are experiencing.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.,
