How Can Neck Arthritis Be Treated?

I was told my neck xrays show my neck is fused with artritis at the top and futhur down my spine. Injections are suggested treatment. I am diabetic and previous injections in lower back caused blood sugar of 425. Is their a better pain relief? I am 77.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You need to go to the nearest medical center, for complete clinical assessment, X-ray of the leg as well as other routine tests depending on the initial findings.
1- Rest your neck, by avoiding any extreme physical activity until improvement.
2- You can use over the counter analgesics, such as Ibuprofen.
3- Apply topical drugs, such as topical anti-inflammatory gel.
4- Apply cold compressors to your neck, allow the pain and discomfort to resolve.
5- Drug injections in severe cases can help to relieve the symptoms.
6- Physiotherapy.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Take care.
