How Can Nose Congestion Along With Headache Be Treated?
I seem to have a very large muccous plug in the right side of my nose I have tried to use nasal flush and decongestants but nothing seems to clear it it is very uncomfortable and causes discomfort when i touch that area... also have a headache from it a few years back I had the same complaint and it came out on its own -it was a huge relief. what can I do to remove it/make it pass?
You can try nose decongestants with oxymetazoline or pseudoephedrine (these are over the counter drugs you can take in pharmacy).
These are to be used for no longer then 5 days. Meanwhile do some nose lavage before using them to help clear the nose of the extra secretions.
If this does not help in 5 days please stop them and try to use nasal steroids (these are not over the counter and a prescription from your doctor is required).
Nasal steroids will help reduce the swelling in the nose and local irritation and help the congestion be better. You may continue the nasal lavage before treatment in the case as well.
If no improvement in 2-3 weeks or use of the nasal steroids you will need a visit with an ENT doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
