How Can Obsessive Behaviour Be Treated?

Hi, a friend of mine loves a girl, he writes many love letters for her but she doesn t answer. However my friend continue to write more love letters for her, I saw one of his letters, he wrote her name 100 times and at the end, he wrote: Oh, my dear, I Love you very much . I found it weird and I decided to ask a psychologist that is it normal or it is a sign of a psychological problem?

Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

There is a very thin line between normal and abnormal behavior (borderline personality).

Sometimes even a person without issues can behave like this in certain situations. Is he neglecting other aspects of his life? Is this affecting his usually day to day life?does he appear depressed?

If so, then he needs to see a counselor. Sometimes it takes time to get over this kind of behavior. Distraction may help.
Removing him from this environment to a different place may help. Talking to the girl who can make it clear to him that she's not interested may set things straight.

It depends on his personality and the situation he is in.
Please talk to him if you are concerned. If he's receptive and tries to change or is able to clearly describe his feelings, thats a good sign.
If not, and he's too defensive or depressed, better to seek help from a medical professional.

Hope this clarifies your concern. Thank you for the query.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wish you both good health.

Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad, General & Family Physician
