How Can Oral Thrush And Mouth Ulcers Be Treated?
I think I am having some sort of allergic reaction in my mouth. My newest meds are prednisone & I was just put on doxycycline for an infection. The corners of my mouth hurt and are creating a white substance, under my upper lip inside is also sore and has a crease in it and the roof of my mouth feels bumpy. I also seem to have a canker sore way in the back under my tongue that I can t seem to get rid of. I also wear dentures & fall asleep with them in most of the time. I am also on about a dz other meds including klonopin, effexor xr, neurotin, & even a Fentanyl patch. Would any of these be messing with each other? Thank You-Donna I m sorry but I am bedridden and do not have ANY money or way to get checked out. Ty anyway & have a nice holiday weekend!

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It looks like your new medication are the culprits for oral thrush and mouth ulcers as both steroids (Prednisone) and antibiotics (Doxycycline) can cause mouth ulcers and fungal infection that is white buildup that you are experiencing as a side effect.
As antibiotics damage the good bacteria of the mouth that are responsible for resisting any infections and also steroids that reduce the resistance of the body therefore both can cause reduced resistance to infections and the opportunistic organisms like yeast overgrow causing infections like thrush.
So, my advise to you is to consult your physician and get examined so that he can reduce the doses of medications if possible to relieve the symptoms. For now you can start gargling with antifungal mouthwash like Nystatin mouthwash and suck Clotrimazole lozenges.
If the sores are painful and there is soreness in mouth then you can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine. Take vitamin B complex supplements.
