How Can Orthostatic Hypertension Be Treated?

My 84 y/o mother underwent Triple By Pass (CABGx3) She has had problems with Orthostatic Hypertension in the past, but its been chronic since surgery (4 weeks) Her Dr put her on a low dose medication. Mom asked the RN at Rehab. She thinks the Nurse said Modron to stablelize BP. Any ideas,,,What is this Med? side effects?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Modron contains aspirin, which belongs to blood thinner drug group. I'm pretty sure that you might be taking it after triple bypass. Usually blood thinners are prescribed after such intervention. If not, yes she should start taking it.

Apart changes in dosage of medicines she is currently taking, I suggest to monitor her blood pressure and record the results for reference. I think she might be experiencing another blockage but should check it out with cardiologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
