How Can Osteoarthritis In The Back And Right Hip Be Treated?

Have osteoarthritis in back and right hip. Have developed a pain in right lower side that seems to be related, but may not be. Seems to be at top of hip, sometimes, and a little higher other times. Seems to come and go, varying in intensity. Have been limiting intake of Tylenol because of potential side effects. On blood thinner, so antiinflamatories not an option, apparently

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Considering your symptoms, they are related to osteoarthritis of your vertebral column and of the hip joint (coxofemoral).

Osteoarthritis is a chronic condition that consists of joint damage over time and can't be cured, we can help with relieving symptoms and to prevent further joint damage.

Generally, anti-inflammatory medication is taken, Naproxen.

Lifestyle changes are important, that includes:
- Having a more physical activity.
- Losing weight.
- Resting more.
- Heat or cold compresses.
- Anti-inflammatory topical analgesics.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suela Gjata,
